STRICT HYGIENE!

  • INHALATION
    		• Abdominal cramps. Unconsciousness.
    		Ventilation (not if powder), local exhaust, or breathing protection.
    		Fresh air, rest. Artificial respiration if indicated. Refer for medical attention.
  • SKIN

    		• Protective gloves.
    		Remove contaminated clothes. Rinse skin with plenty of water or shower. Wear protective gloves when administering first aid.
  • EYES
    		• Redness.
    		Safety goggles.
    		First rinse with plenty of water for several minutes (remove contact lenses if easily possible), then take to a doctor.
  • INGESTION
    		• Abdominal cramps. Dullness. Unconsciousness.
    		Do not eat, drink, or smoke during work.
    		Give a solution of sodium sulphate (Na2SO4) to drink. Induce vomiting (ONLY IN CONSCIOUS PERSONS!). Rest. Wear protective gloves when inducing vomiting and refer for medical attention.
    SPILLAGE DISPOSAL STORAGE PACKAGING & LABELLING
    Sweep spilled substance into sealable containers. Carefully collect remainder, then remove to safe place (extra personal protection: P2 filter respirator for harmful particles).
    		Separated from food and feedstuffs. Dry.
    		Do not transport with food and feedstuffs.

     SOLID IN VARIOUS FORMS.

     The substance decomposes on heating producing toxic fumes.

    OCCUPATIONAL EXPOSURE LIMITS (OELs):
     TLV (as Ba): ppm; 0.5 mg/m3 (ACGIH 1991-1992).


    		ROUTES OF EXPOSURE:
     The substance can be absorbed into the body by inhalation of its aerosol and by ingestion.

    INHALATION RISK:
     Evaporation at 20░C is negligible; a harmful concentration of airborne particles can, however, be reached quickly.

    EFFECTS OF SHORT-TERM EXPOSURE:
     The substance irritates the eyes, the skin and the respiratory tract. The substance may cause effects on the central nervous system and muscles , resulting in cardiac arrhythmia, paralysis. Exposure may result in death.
